On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the School Board voted unanimously to adopt the proposed FY 2025 school budget in the amount of $35,446,896 as presented by Superintendent Chris Record.  This shows a 3.74% expenditure increase, the lowest in Cumberland County, and a 2.51% increase to the property tax rate.  State funding came in at $3,381,249.  Record said that this represent approximately 16% of the budget; an increase which is driven this year in particular because, "The state valuation overall has gone up."  Health insurance, budgeted with a 10% increase, came in at 9.51%.  This represents a $225,000 increase year over year.  The budget includes applying $650,000 from the fund balance.

The School Board will present the approved budget to the Town Council Finance Committee on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 (if needed).  The Town Council will hold a Special Meeting and Public Hearing on the budget, Monday, May 6.  The council will take a vote on approving the School Board budget at the Monday, May 13 council meeting.  Upon approval by the council, the school budget will then go to a citizen referendum on Tuesday, June 11, for final validation.
