04/23/2024: Town Council Finance Committee votes unanimously to set FY 2025 General Fund Budget and FY 2025 Special Revenue Funds Budgets to Public Hearings on Monday, May 6, 2024.
04/22/2024: School Board Finance Committee presents proposed FY 2025 School Budget to Town Council Finance Committee.
04/09/2024: School Board adopts FY 2025 Budget in the amount of $35,446,896. This shows a 3.74% increase for expenditures and 2.51% increase to the property tax rate.
03/11/2024: Town Council refers the Town Manager's Fiscal Year 2025 Budget to the Finance Committee. This year's budget includes all ongoing municipal departments and community services, and was crafted with the assistance of and review by the Finance Director and all department heads.
The proposed General Operating Budget Expenditures for the Town is $18,646,371, which represents in increase of $323,104 over the current year's (Fiscal Year 2024) expenditures, which is an increase of 1.76%. General Municipal Revenues are proposed at $9,817,893, which is an increase of 9.48%. There is an anticipated use of $550,000 of unassigned fund balance used to offset capital needs and the use of carry forward balances from the current fiscal year in the amount of $300,000 to offset operational expenses. The net amount of taxes to be raised is $7,978, 478, an increase of $283,352 over Fiscal Year 2024, or 2.88%.
This year's budget is focused on providing the best public services to the Town, while also retaining current employees and attracting new employees for vacant or positions anticipated to open. The budget is also targeted to meet the stated council goals for FY 1015.
03/05/2024: The State of Maine Department of Education ED 279 Report shows Cape Elizabeth's allocation to be $3,381,249 for fiscal year 2025. This is an increase of $359,562 from the previous year. The health insurance ceiling is currently set at 10%. The projected expenditure increase for the school department is 3.74%, which is lower than last year's 9.32%. Current projected tax rate increase is 2.51%.
