Town Council accepts generous donations for flagpole upgrade on village green

On Monday, August 10, 2020 the Town Council voted unanimously to approve donations from three Cape Elizabeth community members in the amount of $1,134.00 each.  Residents Thomas Egan, Jeffrey Holden, and James Huebener generously offered donations to be used by the town to display a more substantial and improved flagpole in the town center.  The flagpole is located on the new village green and stands behind the recently relocated War Veterans Monument.  Together, the flagpole and monument will serve as the new site for future Memorial Day activities.

Huebener, also vice chair of the town Planning Board, was unable to attend the Town Council meeting, but provided Town Manager Matt Sturgis with a statement on behalf of Egan, Holden, and himself, "We are all honored to be able to contribute to the purchase and installation of the new flagpole. I smile every time I go by it."
