Cape school subsidy for 2017 projected to decrease nearly $1 million

Preliminary state subsidy printouts published by the state Department of Education last week show a reduction of nearly $1 million for Cape Elizabeth schools in fiscal 2017.

The printout projects $2.43 million in state subsidy for Cape schools next year, down $974,369.43 compared to this year's subsidy of $3.4 million, a decrease of 29 percent.

The preliminary subsidy figure is published for planning purposes, and is subject to budget enactment by the Legislature.

School Superintendent Meredith Nadeau is scheduled to deliver her 2016-17 budget proposal to the School Board at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at the High School library. The budget workshop will be videotaped for later broadcast over CETV Channel 3; and on this website.
