Town Council to host Citizens' Round Table Sept. 17

The Cape Elizabeth Town Council will host a Citizens' Round Table from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at the Middle School cafetorium [directions]

This event provides an opportunity for the Town Council to reach out to citizens, to obtain feedback and to encourage public participation as it relates to community goals.

"We've heard from people ... that the council needed to provide some kind of a forum, or a better way or process of seeking input on the goals for the council work, and the process for disseminating the information about those goals," Town Councilor Molly MacAuslan, member of the council's appointments subcommittee, said at the Aug. 10 council meeting.

The Round Table was also advertised in an insert that accompanied tax bills in August.

"How are we doing? What are citizens’ priorities and goals? What direction do you see the town moving toward?," the insert says.

MacAuslan said the forum would be similar to the small focus groups that provided input on the new library, with participants breaking into small groups and reporting back to the large group at the end of the session.

"Please take a moment to think about your priorities," the insert says. "We value your input and look forward to varied ideas and opinions as we look to incorporate citizen input into our goal-setting process.

"Please come join us on September 17!
