Returnable Bottle Shed

** The Bottle Shed is currently closed due to the coronavirus emergency. Applications for 2020 proceeds from local groups benefitting Cape youth are not being accepted at this time**

The Town of Cape Elizabeth maintains a shed at the Recycling Center where residents can leave for-deposit bottles, cans and jugs to benefit Cape Elizabeth youth.

An ad hoc Bottle Shed Committee has been established to review options for the allocation of proceeds from bottles and cans collected at the Bottle Shed. Funds are intended to benefit Cape Elizabeth-based not-for-profit and non-profit service clubs and organizations that benefit the youth of Cape Elizabeth.

Annually in October the Bottle Shed Committee makes applications available for organizations to apply for funding. The announcement and link to the application is posted on the town's website. Funds are awarded in December. In order to qualify for proceeds from the Bottle Shed, organizations must be based in Cape Elizabeth and provide the organization's tax identification number and a W-9. Organizations may submit no more than one application per year. For more information, please contact Police Officer David Galvan at
