School Board approves changes to policy on Student Discipline

School Board unanimously approved the Second Reading revisions to Policy JK - Student Discipline during the June 14, 2022 board meeting.  Policy Chair Jennifer McVeigh informed the board that the policy changes were made to align with new state law which prevents schools from withholding recess as a consequence:  "Recess may not be withheld as a consequence for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct for any student in grade five or below, except that when there is no alternative time available, recess time may be used for restorative interventions related to the student's conduct."
