Hilarious spoof 'The Actor's Nightmare' on Cape High stage March 5-6

Cape Elizabeth High School Theatre will present "The Actor's Nightmare" at 7 p.m. on March 5 and 6 in the school auditorium.

This hilarious spoof by Christopher Durang and details that dream so many of us have at one time or another, whether of a classroom, work, or onstage: A horrifying nightmare where one finds oneself woefully unprepared for the events at hand.

Wandering confusedly onto an empty stage, accosted by people who seem to know him, our hero is soon shoved unceremoniously into the costume of what appears to be Hamlet, and finds himself in the middle of an unfamiliar play that is definitely not HAMLET, and for which he has not rehearsed.

As he fumbles with one missed cue after another, his fellow actors careen through a dizzying array of scenes from other plays, and he makes a valiant effort to keep up - until the dream truly becomes a nightmare, and he finds himself in a fight for his very life.

All are invited to see this, Cape High Theatre Department's nonstop, madcap submission to the 2019 One-Act Play Festival.

Cape Improv will kick off the evening with a fun, fresh, interactive show featuring many newer troupe members. Don't miss it!

General admission tickets available now at or on the night of the show. Adults $10, senior/student $5.
