School Board re-elects Measelle Hubbs as chair, establishes co-vice chair roles for 2019

The School Board re-elected Susana Measelle Hubbs to serve as chair for 2019, and two board members, Heather Altenburg and Kimberly Carr, were elected to new roles as co-vice chairs at the board's meeting Dec. 11, 2018.

"This year we're going to do it differently, we're going to have two vice chairs, so that one is getting trained, and then the next one is presumably moving in to a further leadership role," said Measelle Hubbs, reporting on the board's caucus held the night before.

Measelle Hubbs, first elected to the board in 2013 and again in 2016, served as chair in 2018. Altenburg, elected in 2015 and re-elected this year, was vice chair in 2018. Carr was elected in 2016 and served on several advisory committees and committee appointments.

Elizabeth Scifres will lead the finance committee, a committee of the whole board.

Heading the board's policy committee will be Hope Straw, with Scifres and newly elected board member Laura DeNino as committee members.
