Two honored for 30 years service with the town

Two town employees were honored for 30 years of service at the annual Employee Recognition Luncheon held Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at Fort Williams Park.

Harold "Sonny" Young, Public Works; and Pat Fowler, Thomas Memorial Library, have both been with the town since 1987.

Young and Fowler were among 12 town employees recognized for service anniversaries. Following them with 20 years of service were Paul Fenton, Police Department; Kevin Goody, Thomas Memorial Library; and Rosanne Rogers, Portland Head Light Museum and Gift Shop.

Recognized for 15 years of service were Jeffrey Gaudette, Police Department and Jennifer Vezina, Thomas Memorial Library.

Five employees were recognized for five years: Thomas Perkins; Public Works; Brittany Kashar and Richard Lepage, both of the Thomas Memorial Library; and Community Services employees Russell Packett (director) and Gay Sampson (Cape Care preschool).

The awards were presented by Town Manager Matthew Sturgis, who served as town assessor for 16 years before becoming manager in January. One of the attractions for applicants to the manager's job, he said, was the stable organization they knew they would be stepping into, and he thanked all employees for their service.
