The Town Council will hold public hearings July 9 on proposed technical amendments to the Construction Code, Fire Code and Sewer Ordinance.

Changes to the construction and fire codes will bring the town into compliance with state law that requires adoption of the International Code Councils' 2003 residential and building codes.

At the same time, the council is considering changes to the sewer ordinance. The proposed changes would eliminate sections on private sewage disposal (Article II), and management of private, clustered sewer systems (Article III), because they are superseded by state rules; and, replace technical construction standards (Article I-7) with reference to standards developed by the public-works director and approved by the town manager.
