POLICE OFFICER

The Town of Cape Elizabeth is accepting applications for an opening for a Police Officer position. Cape Elizabeth is a progressive department that offers very competitive wage and benefit packages.

Benefits include, but are limited to: State Retirement Special Plan 2-C or 401A Retirement Plan with up to 7% matching and a 457 deferred compensation program.  Other incentives include clothing and cleaning allowance, tuition reimbursement, education stipend, EMT incentive. Competitive life and health insurance packages are also offered.

To be considered for the position, applicants shall be at least 21 years of age (or 20 years of age with 60 college credits), and have a valid Maine driver's license.  Candidates that are not full-time certified must have passed (within the last 4 months) the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Alert Test and must have passed (within the last 4 months) the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's physical agility test.  The next dates for both exams can be found by visiting – http://www.maine.gov/dps/mcja/ .

Leading candidates will undergo an oral board, physical with drug screen, psychological testing, polygraph exam, and background investigation.

THE POSITION:
Cape Care is seeking a dynamic teacher assistant for our three-to-five year old preschool classroom. We are looking for an energetic, creative, organized, passionate, and caring professional. An ideal candidate must demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate educational practices, be reliable and punctual. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with parents, children and other staff members. Position Classification: This position is classified as a part-time, hourly (non-exempt) position.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Early Childhood Education AS or equivalent relevant years of experience and/or training
  • Maine Roads to Quality Registry member
  • Must be very patient, child-focused and willing to spend a great deal of time on the floor interacting with the children
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Sound knowledge base of the development of a young child both physically and emotionally
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment
