Permits can be obtained at the Recycling Center office, upon providing proof of residence.
The town does not offer curbside collection of solid waste. Residents can utilize the Recycling Center for disposal of household refuse, or elect to contract with a private refuse hauler for pick-up. Non-recyclable rubbish deposited in the hopper at the Recycling Center is transferred to the ecomaine trash-to-energy facility in Portland for incineration.
In addition, the center has containers for recyclables, waste oil, demolition material, brush and leaves and cardboard. Users must place items in their designated locations as directed by the attendant.

The Recycling Center is also the home of our Swap Shop and Bottle Donation Shed, and compost is available for purchase.
