Thomas Memorial Library

The Town of Cape Elizabeth's municipal library is located at 6 Scott Dyer Road, Cape Elizabeth. The  Thomas Memorial Library's holdings include a limited collection of local and state genealogical materials. Some of those books are:

  • Maine Families in 1790; in six volumes

  • Genealogical and Family History of the State of Maine; in four volumes

  • The Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire

  • Soldiers, Sailors, and Patriots of the Revolutionary War-Maine; in two volumes

  • Genealogist's Handbook for New England Research

  • The Jordan Memorial

  • Jordan Family Descendants

These books can be found in the library's Adult Reference Room. Librarians at the Thomas Memorial Library can be reached by calling (207) 799-1720.


Cape Elizabeth Historical Preservation Society

The purpose and mission of the Society is to collect and preserve pictures, letters, deeds, dairies, town records and other material related to the history of Cape Elizabeth. Documents of current events are also cataloged and preserved for the use of future generations.

Extensive records of many kinds are maintained in a climate controlled environment at the Public Safety Building, 325 Ocean House Road.

The Cape Elizabeth Historical Preservation Society office is open each Thursday morning, 9 a.m.-noon. Research at other times can be arranged by contacting the Society. For more information regarding the Society, please contact Wayne Brooking at (207) 799-4667.


Cemeteries

Riverside Memorial Cemetery

The Riverside Memorial Cemetery is located on Spurwink Avenue, adjacent to the Spurwink Church. For information please contact the Cape Elizabeth Town Clerk at  (207) 799-7665.

Seaside Cemetery

The Seaside Cemetery, located on Ocean House Road at the Nazarene Church, is a private cemetery maintained by the Seaside Cemetery Corporation. For more information please contact Wayne Brooking at (207) 799-4667.
