Meeting Minutes
Friday, June 13, 2008
Present: Tom Eismeier, Rebecca Millett, Alan Hawkins, Jeff Shedd, Steve Connolly,

I. Old Business
A.The following policies will be sent forth for second reading with no changes:
JFABB- Foreign Exchange Student Program
JID- Students of Legal Age
JIH- Questioning and Searches of Students and JIH-R accompanying guidelines
JJIBB- Sportsmanship
B. JFAB- Admission of Non-resident Students
After reviewing current MSMA sample and comparing to ours, the Committee
chose to retain our version as it is more straightforward and representative
of current practice. This will be sent forth for first reading as is.
C. DF- Fundraising
The Committee reviewed several fundraising sample policies recently updated
by MSMA: JJE- Student Fundraising and DDF- Student Activities Funds. The
Committee opted to retain our current policy and its accompanying detailed
guidelines, in its existing form. This policy was adopted in Jan. 2007
D.FF-Naming Rights
The School Board requested that this policy be reviewed in light of a recent
request of signage on a field. The request came after the committee's agenda
had been posted, so this will be reviewed at the next meeting ( September).
II. New Business
A. JB- Equal Education Opportunities
After reviewing this policy, the Committee is recommending its deletion.
Its title does not reflect the content, which primarily deals with school
to parent communication. Overall, we do not have many School Community Relations
Policies ( K section) so we will do some research on what other area schools
have for policies dealing with this particular topic.
B. JJB- School Sponsorship of Social Activities-
Put on hold for more information re: criteria for liability insurance
coverage(Pauline); what defines a school sponsored event ( MSMA samples?)
C. JJH- Interrupted Study
Committee reviewed and made several edits. Policy will be sent forth for
first reading with these proposed changes.
D. JK- Student Discipline
Committee reviewed this policy and will send forth for 1st reading with one
minor change in legal references as indicated by D & W review.
E. JK- Corporal Punishment
Committee is recommending deletion, based on D & W recommendation, indicating
that required content is included in JK.
F. JKD- Suspension of Students
Committee reviewed and will be sending forth for first reading with one proposed
edit.
G. JKE- Expulsion of Students
This policy was reviewed, but will not be sent to first reading just yet.
Alan will contact D & W regarding the paragraph which discusses the
withdrawal of students prior to an expulsion hearing.
Meeting adjourned a 1:20PM. Next meeting will be scheduled in September.
