8:00 A.M.
Jordan Conference Room
Members Present: Alan Hawkins, Pauline Aportria, Peter Cotter, Linda Winker
Others Present: Kathy Ray, Sue Weatherbie
Alan Hawkins began the meeting with a status on negotiations for the Ed
Tech I, Secretaries, Custodial and Bus Drivers, Food Service Personnel,
the Ed Tech II, Ed Tech III, and Central Office Staff. All five contracts
have been reviewed by the attorney’s office and initial meetings
to discuss changes have been arranged except for Food Service and Ed Tech
II & Ed Tech II. Kathy will be contacting Rebecca to schedule a meeting
with Alan and Pauline as soon as possible. Kevin, Linda and Kathy will
be meeting with Pauline and Alan on Monday, May 21st to review the Ed II
and II contracts.
Sue Weatherbie presented Job Descriptions for Custodial Administrator,
Custodial Inventory Supervisor and Head Building Custodian. Sue has accepted
the Custodial Administrator position as a part of her responsibilities.
This is a new position created to provide management and control of the
custodial staff for the entire District and Town buildings since custodial
staff provide services for school and town buildings. The Custodial Inventory
Supervisor is a new stipend position that will offer an existing staff
member additional responsibility and provide an inventory control measure
for that department. The Head Building Custodian is a stipend position
that provides daily supervision of the building custodial staff. By instituting
this position we are eliminating one staff member since the Head Custodian
will also perform custodial duties as a part of their position. There shall
be two individuals in this position; one in the High School and the second
at Pond Cove/Middle School. Though the positions created are new, the only
increase in the number of employees is with the Custodial Administrator
position. Pauline noted that there are approximately 5 job descriptions
left for review
Our discussions moved on to salary reviews for the Superintendent and
Central Office Staff. Pauline provided a breakdown of salary increase recommendations
for the Central Office Staff. Copies of which will be put in the Board
members mailboxes for review and discussion prior to the May Workshop on
May 22nd. Pauline will also provide a survey of Superintendent Salaries
from the surrounding school districts. Copies of the survey will be in
Board members mailboxes for review and discussion prior to the Workshop.
An executive session will be scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on May 22, 2007 to
discuss Central Office Staff and the Superintendent’s salary increase.
A formal vote on salary increases for the 2007-2008 school year is scheduled
for the June 2007 business meeting.
.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m. the next Personnel Meeting is
scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the Jordan Conference
Room.
