Master Plan for Winnick Woods set for public hearing Jan.
9
The Town Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed master plan for
Winnick Woods, a 57-acre parcel located off of Sawyer Road. The hearing is
set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in the Town Hall chamber.
The property was donated to the Town by Alice Larrea, with the stipulation
that it be used for passive recreation. The plan, developed by the Conservation
Commission, creates a trail system on the property, with a signature trail
head on Sawyer Road.
Winnick Woods is a priority of the Town's Greenbelt Plan, and has been the
subject of a public forum in June, as well as numerous Conservation Commission
workshops.
Part of the plan calls for managing part of the area as a wildlife habitat
for the New England Cottontail, said Town Councilor Michael Mowles.
