'Tremendous progress' made on Town Council goals for
2007
As the Town Council year comes to a close, Cape Elizabeth lawmakers received
an overview of their progress on goals they set for themselves at the beginning
of 2007.
When the council, including newly elected councilors Jim Rowe and Sara Lennon,
met in January, they approved a list of goals led by a series of objectives
for ensuring quality service with minimal impact on the property tax.
"As you can see, tremendous progress has been made," said Town Manager Michael
McGovern, referring to a list of goals and implementation steps at the Nov.
5 meeting of the Town Council.

The update on goals shows that each of the 12 goals set by the council 11
months ago have been addressed in some way. Goals range from adopting a new
comprehensive plan to exploring options for alternative energy to enhancing
recycling.
McGovern, who has served in Cape Elizabeth for more than 25 years, said no
council in his memory has been more dedicated to achieving its stated goals.
