State transportation officials
set public hearing on Spurwink Avenue improvements for Feb. 6
The Maine Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Tuesday,
Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall to seek input on proposed improvements
to Spurwink Avenue, between Route 77 and Deer Run Road.
The meeting is being held prior to beginning any engineering work necessary
for developing preliminary plans for the project.
The project includes grinding existing roadway, a foamed asphalt treatment
and rebasing of small segments of the traveled way. New pavement will include
3-foot paved shoulders. Vertical and horizontal alignments will be checked
and adjusted, for safety reasons. Drainage and culvert replacement will be
reviewed. New curb and catch basin work is also possible. Development may
include right-of-way easements or grading rights, permits and utility
relocations.
Representatives of the Maine Department of Transportation will be available
to listen to concerns, receive comments, and answer questions from anyone
with an interest in the project. MDOT is particularly interested in learning
local views relative to project consistency with local comprehensive plans,
discovering local resources, and identifying local concerns and issues. Anyone
with an interest is invited to attend and participate in the meeting.
Accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities. Auxiliary aids
will be provided upon advance request.
