Cape Theatre presents 'Spoon River' Feb. 28, March
4-6
Cape Elizabeth High School Theatre will present "Spoon River" in four
performances Feb. 28, and March 4, 5 and 6 at the High School auditorium.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. each day, and tickets, $3, may be purchsed at the
door.
Spoon River is an original adaptation by director Richard Mullen and his
students, from Edgar Lee Masters' "Spoon River Anthology". It is set in late
1800s Illinois and depicts 40 townspeople, played by nine ensemble members.
"'Spoon River' is an elegant theatre spectacle of music, light, sound, costume,"
said Mullen. "It touches hearts with its tragic stories and transcendent
moments." It is suited to adults and mature students, he said.
Spoon River will be Cape Theatre's entry into the Regional One Act Festival,
to be held at Marshwood High School in Elliot. The top nine performances
there will then compete in the state One Act Festival, hosted by Cape Elizabeth
High School, March 21 and 22. There, a panel of judges will choose one school
to represent Maine at the New Englands in April. |
