For the first time in four years, fees for lots and burials are increasing at the Riverside Memorial Cemetery.

At the recommendation of the cemetery's trustees, the Town Council April 14 approved a new fee schedule, raising the price of lots and interments for both cremations and full burials.

New this year is a schedule for disinterments. "The Town has received requests for this service in the past and has not had an applicable fee to charge," according to a memo submitted to the council by the Riverside Cemetery Board of Trustees.

The last fee increases were approved by the council in April of 2004. "Since that time, economic factors and labor costs have changed considerably," the memo says.

Here is the new schedule of fees, effective immediately:

Before making their recommendation, the trustees reviewed comparative data from other local cemeteries, which was supplemented with information provided by April Tracy , former Town Clerk; and Robert Malley, Director of Public Works.
