School Board accepts resignation of member Jack
Kennealy
The School Board accepted the resignation of fellow board member Jack Kennealy
at their meeting May 13.
Kennealy, elected to the board in November, cited health as his reason for
stepping down.
"Unfortunately my work on the School Board has consistently consumed more
of my energy than is reasonable for me," board Chairman Kathy Ray read from
a letter from Kennealy dated May 13.
"Therefore, it is with deep and sincere regrets that I have concluded it
is best to resign my position on the School Board," Ray read from his letter.
"My resignation is effective at the end of the day today, Tuesday, May 13,
2008. I wish you and the entire School Board every success in your future
work," she read.
Ray said the board will be looking for a replacement School Board member
"probably in November", coinciding with the 2008 municipal election. In the
meantime, the board agreed to have members Peter Cotter take over Kennealy's
duties on the Town's Alternative Energy Committee, and Linda Winker on the
school Technology Advisory Committee.
"I'd just like to say that even though Jack was on the School Board only
a short period of time, we appreciate everything that he contributed," Ray
said.
"I know personally that he did a lot of work and a lot of research to try
to come to some conclusions and broaden some of our perspectives, and I know
that he's very committed to the schools and we wish him well," she said.
