Various miscellaneous fees set to increase

The Town Council on Oct. 15, 2008 approved an updated list of miscellaneous fees, to go into effect Nov. 11, 2008.

The new fees are mostly increases for various products and services, including notary fees, various permits, Planning Board fees, printed public documents, and street opening charges.

The vote to approve the new fees was unanimous, but Councilor David Backer noted that the increases heighten the awareness and importance of providing services more efficiently, and cause him to recognize "the increased financial burden that we are expecting citizens in our town to bear all the time."

The updated fee schedule follows one of the 2008 Town Council goals to review the Town fee structure to ensure that fees are in line with actual costs.
