McKenney winner of special election
by 6 votes
By a margin of six votes, Paul McKenney won Tuesday's special election to
the Town Council.
McKenney's opponent Cynthia Dill has indicated to Town officials that she
will make a written request for a recount.
McKenney won the election with 401 votes, edging Dill's 395 votes.
Town Clerk Deborah Cabana said that the votes were hand-counted three times
by herself and election workers.
Plans are for tonight's winner to be sworn in as Town Councilor tomorrow
evening before participating in the January Town Council meeting. Cabana
said she would seek advice on whether McKenney could be sworn in before a
recount. Dill has five days to file a written request for a recount, and
the municipality has five days to complete it.
The special election was held to fill a vacant seat on the Town Council
previously held by John McGinty, a three-term councilor who resigned Nov.
