Stream flowing toward Spurwink River now officially 'Dyer
Brook'
The U.S. Board on Geographic Names
has approved a proposal from a resident of Sawyer Road to apply the new name,
"Dyer Brook" to a previously unnamed stream flowing across his property to
the Spurwink River.
James C. Cox, 1148 Sawyer Road, suggested the name to the board, to honor
members of the Dyer Family who owned the property where he now resides.
The new entry is now part of the Georgraphic Names Information System, the
nation's official names repository, available and searchable on the World
Wide Web. The entry reads:
