Arts Commission taking applications
for second grant award
Cape Elizabeth Arts Commission is taking applications for its second grant,
to be awarded this fall.
The commission, funded by the Town, is charged with supporting the arts in
the community. Some of the commission's activities have included purchasing
artwork for public display by student artists, sponsoring different bands
and performances, and helping select exhibit material for the gallery at
the Thomas Memorial Library.
The first Arts Commission grant was awarded last May to Jennifer Feeney Morgan,
who will use the funds to help complete her first children's book, "A Firefly's
Quest." As special thanks to the commission, Morgan will give a short
presentation of "A Firefly's Quest" to the community in December, and a copy
of the book to the Children's Library.
The goal of the Arts Commission grant is to provide individualized funding
support for activities and events that bring the arts, in all forms, to the
community. All approved applicants must conclude their project with a public
performance or exhibit.
Applications for the grant are available at Thomas Memorial Library, 6 Scott
Dyer Road; Town Hall, 320 Ocean House Road; or
accessed through the Town website. More
details about the grant are available on the application.
Cape Elizabeth residents or groups that primarily serve the community, except
members of the Arts Commission or their immediate family, are eligible to
apply.
Applications are due Nov. 1, 2002 and will be awarded by Dec. 1. |
