Free admission to Portland Head Light museum, tickets for tower access offered on 'Open Lighthouse Day' Sept. 17
Portland Head Light is participating in the state Office of Tourism's second annual 'Open Lighthouse Day' on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.
The museum in the former keepers' quarters at Portland Head Light will be open and free to all that day.
Tickets for tower access
The tower will also be open to visitors. However, because of limited capacity, these guidelines have been established:
Tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
- 12 tickets will be given out for each fifteen minute period from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Each ticket will show an admission time. The ticket can only be used during the time period printed on the ticket.
- Children younger than 10 will not be admitted to tower.
- Visitors must be able to climb 85+ steps unassisted.
