Community Services readies for online registration to begin Labor Day evening

Community Services is readying for online registration for activities, courses and use of facilties such as the fitness center, community pool, and Fort Williams Park.

Community Services has contracted with Activenet.com for online registration, payment, and management of activities and rentals.

At 8 p.m. on Labor Day (Sept. 6, 2010), Cape Elizabeth's Activenet website will begin accepting registrations for offerings listed in its fall brochure of programs, scheduled for delivery to homes the week of Aug. 23.

Patrons may set up accounts now on the Activenet site, http://activenet.active.com/cecommunityservices/.

Community Services has been working with Activenet to establish online registration and for nearly a year. Many area communities also use Activenet, said Cape Elizabeth Director Janet Hoskin. Falmouth, for example, has used the service for approximately five years. "It's tried and true," she said.

No more youth-program registration evenings

Because of the new online registration service, signup for youth programs at the traditional registration evening by lottery time has been eliminated. Patrons may register online for course offerings beginning at 8 p.m. Sept. 6, 2010. In-person registration for youth and adult programs will be accepted from Cape Elizabeth residents at the Community Center, 343 Ocean House Road, beginning Sept. 7.

Mail-in registration will also be accepted for adult programs.

Patrons are encouraged to set up their online accounts now, and to read the Frequently Asked Questions on the Activenet site. There is no charge to set up an account, which will be used to store registration data whether patrons pay online or whether they register at the Community Center. Online registration is paid by credit card and there is a small convenience fee, based a percentage of the total receipt amount.

A list of available activities and facilities will also be available for browsing on the Activenet site.
