In lieu of the town's traditional fall Heavy Item Pickup, fees will be waived at the Recycling Center for residents hauling their own material or heavy items from Oct. 17-Nov. 1, 2009.

Funds for the fall Heavy Item Pickup were not included in the fiscal 2010 municipal budget. (see previous story)

The fees will be waived during that time period for residents bringing in their own items material and/or items, said Public Works Director Robert Malley. Contractors, however, will still be assessed fees in accordance with current regulations, he said.

Sunday openings

The Recycling Center will also be open from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on four Sundays during October and November for the disposal of leaf, yard wastes, wood waste and brush, only. Fees will not be assessed for residents the first two Sundays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, but will be assessed for all applicable items Nov. 8 and Nov. 15. (click here for list of applicable items).

Items normally destined for the Transfer Station (household rubbish) will not be accepted on Sundays.
