Middle School drama club adds refreshing twist to classic 'A Christmas Carol'
The Cape Elizabeth Middle School Drama Club will present its fall production, "A Christmas Carol", Nov. 12 through 15, 2009. This production is a delightfully refreshing version of Charles Dickens' classic holiday tale told from the perspective of a young boy's grandmother.
The boy, Thomas, enjoys spending time with his grandmother, but has trouble understanding why she and his grandfather give their hard-earned money to the poor. His confusion gives grandmother the perfect opportunity to tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge as she recalls it, and a traditional retelling of "A Christmas Carol" comes to life as a play-within-a-play.
This well-written adaptation includes all of the classic Charles Dickens characters: Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the spirits of Christmas past, present and future. This uplifting story is told by a talented cast and crew of young Middle School thespians.
There will be four performances of "A Christmas Carol" in the Middle School cafetorium:
- Thursday Nov. 12, 2:45 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Nov. 15, 2 p.m.
Admission is $3. Please call the Middle School office, 799-8176, for more information.
