MDOT sets final public hearing
on town-center intersection light, design
The Maine Department of Transportation will hold an information session and
public hearing on design plans for the intersection of Shore, Scott Dyer
and Ocean House roads at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the Town Hall chamber.
This will be the final public hearing regarding the signal at the Town Center
intersection. The Town Council is expected to consider the plan at their
October meeting, but is not likely to schedule another public hearing, said
council Chairman Mary Ann Lynch.
Shawn Smith, MDOT project manager, said full-size plans are expected to be
delivered to the town office later this week.
Smith, who will lead the meeting, said he will review all design elements
associated with adding full signalization to the intersection, as well as
elements MDOT has been working on with the town, including sidewalks and
crosswalks. The intersection is currently served by a blinking red-and-yellow
light
The Cape Courier reported Sept. 20 that the plans include slight re-alignment
of Shore and Scott Dyer Road. The roads would still be offset, but would
meet Ocean House Road at more of a right angle. Ocean House Road will remain
the same except for left-turn lanes to access Shore Road and Scott Dyer Road.
Smith, in a telephone interview Sept. 23, said he expects the meeting to
be informal with a lot of information going back and forth.
