Seven citizens appointed to Shore Road Pathway Study
Committee
Seven citizens have been appointed to a new ad hoc committee that will look
into the potential of creating an an off-road bike/pedestrian pathway next
to Shore Road.
At the Dec. 10 Town Council meeting, councilors approved appointments to
the Shore Road Pathway Study Committee:
Josef Chalat, 12 Channel View Road; Howard Littlefield, 6 Lawson Road; Andie
Mahoney, 38 Ocean View Road; Suzanne McGinn, 1180 Shore Road; George Morse,
1148 Shore Road; William Nickerson, 7 Mountain View Road; and Paul Thelin,
1 Smugglers Cove Road.
Cynthia Dill will be the committee's Town Council representative.
Nineteen citizens applied for appointment to the committee, said Councilor
Anne Swift-Kayatta, chairman of the appointments subcommittee. She said she
was pleased with the broad representation of residents who use Shore Road
in many different ways.
The committee will study the potential for creating an off road path adjacent
to Shore Road, designed with sensitivity to the character of Shore Road and
in collaboration with property owners abutting Shore Road.
The committee's goal is to develop a path plan with a recommended path layout,
recommendations for path surface(s), recommendations for any mitigation needed,
and a cost estimate.
A progress report will be due to the council six months after the committee's
first meeting.
