Lack of contests draw few to
primaries
In the only contested race of the June 13 primary, South Portland
resident Richard Feeney was favored by Cape voters to represent Democrats
for county commissioner in the November election.
Voter turnout was 7.1 percent, with 521 Cape voters turning out for the primary.
Lack of competition was likely responsible for the low turnout. In Cape
Elizabeth, current Commissioner Feeney defeated Westbrook's Keith Gorman
154 to 32. He will face Cape Elizabeth's John Ridge in November.
