Voters elected Henry Adams to an unexpired term on the School Board Tuesday.

Adams defeated Susan Steinman by a margin of 252 votes, with 1,948 voters casting ballots for a 26 percent turnout.

Adams will fill the unexpired term of Richard West, who resigned from the board last March after winning election in a previous special election last November. West was elected in a four-way race for two unexpired terms on the board, held by George Entwistle and Kathy Walsh.

The term expires June 13, 2005.

In addition, Cape voters indicated they did not support Question 1, a referendum to require the state to fund 55 percent of education costs, and 100 percent of special education, statewide. In Cape Elizabeth the vote was 884 for Question 1 and 1,059 against.
